1. What is a clan?
A clan is a tightly bound group of adventurers. The characters may band together due to similar lifestyles or beliefs, and generally form a structure of support for their fellow clan members. Clan members may also enjoy the privileges of exclusive clan houses and inter-clan communication.
Clans are usually run by one or more powerful characters. The leader(s) of a clan has the power to enroll and dismiss other players into and out of the fellowship of the clan. Any immortal members of a clan have full leadership privileges.
A clan is a group of players that are there to associate with and often rely on for help in times of need. Clans add a special facet to your character's "life" at Tempus. They create and solve problems and provide a ready-made social group.
In order to join a clan your character on Tempus must have acheived at least level 10. Most clans on Tempus have a higher standard believing that you should prove yourself before a clan should accept you. When you have reached level 10(or even a couple levels prior) you should "shop" the clans and see which ones interest you and which ones are interested in recruiting. It is always a good idea to try not to join a clan that is at odds or enemies with a clan your IRL friend is in.
After deciding which clans you are most interested in, contact a member or a leader and tell them about your interest. Get to know the people in the clan. It will make it alot easier to get in the clan if you know most of the people, since some of the clans vote on who is let in among the clan members. The best advice is not to make a pest of yourself. Don't grovel and beg to a clan leader. If you get on their nerves, they'll never let you in.
3. How can a player start his own clan?
In order to start your own clan, you are required to be at least level 40, 10 million gold coins and 9 other people willing to join your clan. After you have satisfied these requirements, and NOT before, contact Fishbone or Fireball with your clan name, badge and the list of 10 people that are going to join the clan(including yourself).
Some time of course it is suggested that you plan what the ideals and policy of your personal clan will be. Especially on pkilling and clan wars.
A clan house is a safe? place for members of a clan to retire for rest. A clan house may be very simple, or extremely elaborate, loaded with fountains, shopkeepers, and other luxuries.
A clanhouse is a set of rooms devoted to the use of clan members and is protected from the other players by a password or guard. Using the loadroom set command clan members can set it so that sandy robes or recall spells and scrolls return them to their clanhouse, instead of their town of residence.
5. How do I make a clanhouse for my clan?
A clan must purchase the rooms involved in a clanhouse. The initial price of 10 rooms is 50 million gold coins. The building of these rooms may be done off-line by any player or online by a God using OLC. Any clan, without a member that can build the rooms, that would like a clanhouse built can usually find an immortal willing to build the rooms for them. After the initial rooms are bought and built, more rooms can be purchased as well as objects and mobs based on prices set by Fireball and the other upper imms. The docs for building can be found at tempusmud.com under the pub/tempus/docs/area_building directory using an anonymous ftp.
6. How much does a clanhouse cost?
The following price list includes the price of all amenities a clan can buy for their house:
| initial 10 rooms | 50 mil |
| addition room | 10 mil |
| receptionist | 20 mil |
| fountain | 5 mil |
| copy of an existing board | 10 mil |
| a unique clan board | 20 mil |

A clan war is a pkilling conflict between two or more clans over just about anything. Clan wars have started over strutting rights and civil war within a clan. These wars tend to appear swiftly and end just as swiftly. Relatively few people usually die. Just enough for the stronger clan to make its point. During clan wars no member of one of the warring clans is safe from the other clans. Pkill happens often and is often accompanied by plooting of eq. You just can't let the other clan keep coming at you.. and often the best way to stop them is relieve them of their weapons.
Clans will occasionally embark on attempts to annihilate each other. These wars tend to be spontaneous and can spark from anything from a thrown insult to stealing someone's mud love. Generally you can rely on some kind of clan conflict every two or three months.. and more minor conflicts in the time in between.
Every clan is allowed to have 10 ranks. These ranks can be used for fun within the clan but are usually used to determine who is in charge of what and who can tell who what to do. The ranks can be anything from General to Grand Poobah to whatever. The ranks are assigned by Fireball or Fishbone from mail from the clanleaders.
A clan badge is the flag that appears on the who after a person's title. The clan badge's are designed by the clan and sent to Fireball or Fishbone to be set. Two examples of Clan Badges are: (_-Dagger-_) and Q.u.a.k.e.R
11. What is cinfo and how do I use my clan account?
Cinfo is a clan member's command that allows the clan member to check the clan's badge, the clan's bank account, the listing of clan ranks, and the rooms that belong to the clan. The clan bank account can't be withdrawn from except by clan leaders and high level immortals(of course). However any member can deposit into the clan account using deposit <amount> clan.
The Gods have provided, for clan use, a clan channel. Csay carries <Your name> says "<MESSAGE>" and cemote carries <Your name> <message>. For example: csay hi returns Ego clan-says, "hi" and cemote hugs his clan returns Ego hugs his clan.
